Meetings & events in historic grandeur
The most accessible business and event location in the Netherlands!
Grand Café Restaurant 1e Klas is easily accessible by metro, tram, train, boat or bus - these almost literally stop at the door of the restaurant. Not only is the accessibility unique, the rich history is also very unusual seeing that 1e Klas is situated in the old waiting rooms of yesteryear.
Between 1881 and 1889, master builder Pierre Cuypers from Roermond, designed the (now iconic) Amsterdam Central Station. His craftsmanship is highly praised and he is often seen as the man who revived architecture in the Netherlands. Influencer of and inspirer for many others, such as H.P. Berlage and Michel de Klerk. We are proud that part of his architecture can still be admired in our restaurant. We have fully renovated the old waiting rooms (including the sigh indicating the waiting times) which takes you back in time.
